KEY POINTS 1. Water Baptism saves us in the future, past (from beginning to end), and present (Mark 16:16; Titus 3:5; 1 Pet. 3:21).

SAVED - FUTURE, PAST, AND PRESENT • Baptism saves us — this is the number one benefit of Water Baptism • Mark 16:16 - “He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.” o “shall be saved” — used in the future tense § Greek Verb § Third Person, Singular, Future, Passive, Indicative • Titus 3:5 - “Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;” o Paul is reflecting about what Jesus Christ did — He saved us o He takes us back to the time frame when it happened o “he saved” - used the aorist tense § Aorist meaning: “‘External viewpoint’ concerning an occurrence as a whole or in summary, including the beginning and end-point” o He includes the whole plan of salvation, from the start to the finish o In verse 5 he uses the word “by” and tells us HOW it happened, how we were saved: by the washing of regeneration (water baptism), and renewing of the Holy Ghost (spirit baptism)
