Good morning everyone. My name is Dr. Safa Hill and today I will be presenting on 2 of the 5 ministers of the 5 fold ministry
offices.
The Evangelist brings the “Gospel” message to the WORLD, as Jesus Christ admonished the church to do in Matthew 28
vs 19 and 20, while the teacher teaches the body of Christ in prayerful Bible study the scriptures, in formal and informal
situations and settings. They, along with the Pastor are a part of the backbone of the church.
The well known scripture that I will quote sets the framework and tone for the Evangelist in Matthew 28:19-20 King James
Version.
19. Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost.
20. Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the
end of the world. Amen.
This is the command of Jesus Christ to the Church.
The Evangelist
Firstly, we will take a look at the evangelist, followed by the teacher, which are the two miniseries of the 5 fold that
I will be focusing on today.
An Evangelist is called to go out and preach and teach the world in the highways and the byways.
The evangelist carries the Gospel/ the Great Commission to the world ,given by Jesus Christ! Sharing the good news of
Grace, Forgiveness and salvation . Without those things, the world would be lost without hope, a savior, and would
experience the consequence of sin- which is death.
Evangelizing throughout the world by the collective effort of those who preach and teach the Gospel message, either
publicly or by personal witness, thereby bringing awareness to the work of the Holy Spirit and Jesus’ Atonement for sin!
The Evangelist is the person who seeks to convert others by doing those things that will educate and encourage persons
who are in need of a savior, especially by public preaching and the study of the scriptures.
Here are some qualities of an evangelist:
*An Evangelist should be compassionate, loyal, have character and be of integrity.
*They are people of prayer, as they know that only God can convict and convert, and they are totally dependent upon Him
in prayer. Praying also for opportunities to share the gospel. They watch for those opportunities. And consider many
so-called casual encounters as appointments set by God.
*They have a theology that compels them to evangelize. They believe in the urgency of the gospel message, believing that
Christ is the only way of salvation, for without Christ and the Holy Spirit, one cannot make it into Eternity.
*They spend time in the Word. That it is by the Word of God that they live and grow. And by doing so, they are more likely
to see the lostness of humanity and the love of God in Christ to save those who are lost. Being intentional about
evangelism.
Sharing the gospel is not only a Must for the evangelist but also quite rewarding to the Evangelist.
Here are some advantages to evangelizing: The Blessings of Sharing the Gospel.

• Being a Peacemaker...
To be co-laborers with Christ, to teach and bring into the fold those who will be further taught by the Pastor/
Shepherd/teacher and be baptized; entering into a saving relationship with God and being in fellowship with the saints
worldwide! Although it may be challenging at times and requires sacrifice on the part of the minister, Evangelism stands as
an integral part of the operations of the body of Christ.
The Teacher
Take note of this, the gift of teaching can be used by the other four ministries in the 5 fold, but one can only occupy one
office. For example, if you are a Pastor, you are operating in the office of a pastor(and you use the gift of teaching) although
you are not operating in the office of a teacher, you are a pastor, or a Prophet or an Evangelist and so on.
The Teacher is in some churches not appointed in a church setting and is not quite a sought after office. Even though this is
known to be the case in some, not all cases.
It is a necessary office and the gift of teaching a widely used gift by all Ministers in the Church. I want to highlight the
importance of the teacher in the church and also those who have served as teachers.
The teachers who teach you how to search the scriptures, study the scriptures and how to in turn teach others.
Throughout all of mankind’s history we have had many teachers who have served and have broken bread before us. We
have had Our Greatest teacher Jesus Christ and those who have served with the gift of teaching Master Prophets,
Apostles, Pastors and many of whom have studied to show themselves approved rightly dividing the Word of truth, line
upon line, precept upon precept, here a little and there a little, who needeth not to be ashamed.
We want to highlight those who have served, but let’s be clear, a teacher is a teacher and an evangelist is an evangelistic.
The Evangelist and the Teacher, much like those of the other 3 Ministers are tasked with the edification and
witnessing respectively of the world and the church. They are held to a standard of Holiness, Righteousness and
service to others and service unto God. Let’s look at the definitions and expressions of Righteousness and
Holiness that they embody.
HOLINESS AND RIGHTEOUSNESS
1. THE HOLINESS OF YOUR CALLING demands that you "come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the
Lord" (2 Corinthians 6:21) in order to tap the fullness of your prophetic potential!
Elsewise, Prophet, Prophetess, you will end up sullying the sanctity of your anointing and sabotaging the grandeur of your
vocation.
But due to your glorious calling, you absolutely must not fail.
Have a care, then, to conduct yourself as one who is "holy, harmless, undefiled, separate from sinners, and made higher
than the heavens" (Hebrews 7:26).
2. HOLINESS BEGINS IN THE MIND!
That is because all words and deeds are the children of thought.
Wherefore, one's words and deeds can only be as holy as one's thoughts.
The only reason people continue to struggle with sinful words and sinful deeds is because they refuse to sanctify their sinful
thoughts.
As it is written,
"The thought of foolishness is sin" (Proverbs 24:9).
As you sanctify your thoughts, your words and deeds will likewise become sanctified.
It makes no sense to strive to obtain holiness in word and in deed if you are neglecting to foster holiness in your thoughts.
Purity in thought, then, is the root of holiness.
Purity in words and deeds is the fruit of holiness.
3. THE BIBLE TEACHES THERE ARE 3 CATEGORIES OF
HOLINESS!
But most of today's pastors won't teach it.
Go figure!
And within those 3 categories are 10 separate and distinct levels of holiness.
Observe.
A. LOW HOLINESS.
1. Meditation - Joshua 1:8; Psalm 1:2.
2. Supplication - Acts 1:4; Ephesians 6:18.
3. Separation - 2 Corinthians 6:17; James 4:4.
B. INTERMEDIATE HOLINESS.
4. Awe - Psalm 4:4; 33:8.
5. Gravity 1 Timothy 3:8; 3:11.
6. Piety - Luke 2:25; Acts 10:2.
C. HIGH HOLINESS.
7. Fear - Job 1:8; Proverbs 8:13.
8. Dread - Isaiah 8:13; Hebrews 12:21.
9. Blessedness - Psalm 1:1; 65:4.
10. Veneration - John 17:17.
Low Holiness is absolutely essential for salvation.
You cannot go to Heaven if, when you die, you haven't graduated past the 3rd level of holiness. (See Hebrews 14:12)
Intermediate Holiness is essential for favor and protection.
You cannot walk in the fullness of God's favor and divine protection without having entered into the 4th, 5th and 6th levels
of holiness.
High Holiness is essential for interacting with angels and departed saints, for the raising of the dead, the working of strange
miracles, bilocation at will and walking in any and all forms of cryptic grace.
But all these things begin to occur for you only if and when you have entered the last 4 stages of holiness.
RIGHTEOUSNESS
1. "IF THOU FOLLOWEST RIGHTEOUSNESS, thou shalt obtain her, and put her on, as a
glorious long robe" (Ecclesiasticus 27:8)!
GOD’S DEFINITION OF RIGHTEOUSNESS
AND (RIGHTEOUS ARE) THOSE WHO PRAY, PAY ALMS, HONOR THEIR AGREEMENTS, AND ARE PATIENT IN
(TIMES OF) POVERTY, AILMENT AND DURING CONFLICT. SUCH ARE THE PEOPLE OF TRUTH, AND ARE GOD-
FEARING.
Being born again makes your spirit righteous.
Meditating in the Word makes your soul righteous.
Being obedient to God makes your body righteous.
This is what the apostle was alluding to when he said,
"And I pray to God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ"
(1 Thessalonians 5:23).
Indeed, as you put on the robe of righteousness by allowing your spirit, soul and body to be fully righteous, you will then
come to know what the holy prophet meant when he insisted,
"And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance for ever" (Isaiah
3:17).
2. "ABRAHAM BELIEVED GOD, and it was imputed unto him for righteousness" (James 2:23)!
There is a stark difference between believing God and
believing in God.
Believing in God is to believe in His existence.
Believing God is to believe in His integrity.
Christians, therefore, do not have a problem with believing in God's existence - they already have that down pat.
They have a problem with believing in His integrity.
And that is how they block their blessings.
Most Christians, in the hard places, actually doubt that God
is going to keep His Word and come through for them.
But once they begin to imitate Abraham and begin to believe in God, that is when they will begin to see and experience and
enjoy miracles of the highest order.
And exactly how does one believe in God?
By praising God in relation to His unbreakable promises.
As it is written,
"He staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief; but was strong in faith, giving glory to God" (Romans 4:22).
When you respond to any of the promises of God by giving glory to God, that is, by giving Him thanks and praise for that
promise, that is how and when you are actually, like Abraham, believing God.
Holiness and Righteousness for the Evangelist is their way of Life; how they conduct themselves and they know the
importance of living this way!
Remaining always in Holiness and Righteousness.
This is the posture of an evangelist and a teacher. To be Holy as our Heavenly Father is Holy and to be righteous as he is righteous.
In Closing:
The Evangelist and Teachers are essential to the operation of the Church. Where the evangelist is laboring in the
field and bringing the harvest in, planting the seeds of the living Word of God, proclaiming the Good news of
salvation and the message of repentance to a sinful world. The learned teacher who opens the Word of God and
imparts knowledge with understanding of the scriptures, to the Church (those who are saved), teaching them both
the fundamentals and the deeper things in Christ Jesus.
Consider your own testimony as a Child of God, how these two ministers have worked alongside the Holy Spirit to
aid you in your spiritual journey so far and how blessed we are to have evangelists and teachers in the body of
Christ.
Thank you!
